 Direct Sales

Direct Sales Companies are one of the oldest forms of home business in existance. They have been around long before the computer had ever been thought about. We all remember the Fuller Brush Man, Avon and Tupperware. But boy have thinbgs changed now. From children's book to crafts and lengerie the direct sales market is wide open. It had always been a women's business, but that had changed as well. many people have successfully reached their goals with direct sales or marketing companies.

The According to the Direct Selling Women's Alliance, direct selling is the fastest growing home-based business industry. There are about 43 million direct selling distributors throughout the world. These folks represent over 400 companies that have a combined sales of over $26 billion dollars.

Products are sold directly face to face or at demonstrations, often referred to as parties. A hostess would invite guests to see your demonstration. The hostess would receieve free or discoounted products for their efforts. Often games and incentives are part of the party.

Most companies have several things in common:

  • Generally you will need to purchase a sales kit. This is usually very affordable and runs between $50-$300. It has samples and products, promotional items, catalogs or brochures, sales slips and other printed material. It is a basis to get you started. However, you may have to purchase additional tools, samples and other things as time goes on.
  • Companies pay commission for the products sold. In additiuon there may be incentives for reaching certain goals that the company has established

Tips For Choosing Your Sponsor

Choosing your company is just the beginning. Finding the right products and opportunity is important, but choosing your sponsor is the second step that will make or break your business. This is the person who will help train you and set you on the right path when you get started. If you are choosing a person that you have personal experience with or someone online, these are the things that you should consider.

  • Look for successful people in the company you are choosing. You are who you associate with. You want to be trained and mentored by someone who has drive and success, rather than someone who has limited experience or drive.
  • Look for someone who is still current in the company-who has done what you want to achieve and is still active. There are leaders in each company who have made their mark, but have not been as active as they have been in the past. You need someone who is up to date on all the company information. You want to mentor with a top leader with lots of drive. Look for someone who loves the company.
  • Pick Your sales mentor as you would a friend.Find someone who has a similar personality that you can be simpatico with. A perfect sales mentor is a person who is interested in developing you as in sales and leadership more than how much you will be worth to them.
  • Make sure that the person is accessible. In the ideal world that would be 24/7. Be realistic, but you need a go to person when you have a problem that needs addressing.
